PREREQUISITES:
For participants who have engaged in extensive personal healing and therapeutic work, are well resourced emotionally and psychologically to be able to stay steady exploring depths in their psyche and soma and be in connected and compassionate relationship with other participants. In terms of occupation or professional practice, this training is intended for people who want to source a deeper connection with creativity and embodied faith in their lives and with others in their work: coaches, therapists, leaders, teachers, activists, performers, writers who are interested in opening up greater awe and wonder in their lives.
**This is not intended to serve as a trauma recovery program, is not focused on collective or personal trauma and is a specific exploration into my work, Jungian Somatics. An integrated and foundational understanding of the autonomic nervous system and neurobiology is required so that we can move beyond nervous system discourse and theory to focus on deeper explorations together.
Participants must have completed Movement for Trauma Level One OR the Foundations program. We will also consider other trainings or education as meeting these requirements when you apply.
Explore the powerful intersection of the soma and psyche and combine an implicity understanding of neurobiology with post-Jungian theory as it applies to the soma. In this training, we focus on accessing life force through the creative instinct as a doorway into embodied grace and connection with the soul.
We will learn how to consciously and creatively relate to our bodies in our work supporting other humans, one-on-one or in groups, and build skills to intentionally connect to our bodies when in the presence of others. Part of the container for this work is inspired by Dr. Iain McGilchrist’s theories and research on the divided brain.
Having deep connection with our moment-to-moment body-based experiences helps us access knowledge beyond our conscious psyche and tap into wisdom and intuition beyond rational grasp, living in the unconscious. This connection is an imperative the more our work goes online. We approach the body through symbolism, embodied spiritual and depth psychology based reflections from our own intentional journeys with expressive and authentic movement, music, film, prose, poetry and visual art to expand our capacity to connect with other souls via the soma and access the strength of our human heart in our work with others. Each participant will be encouraged to source these somatic openings and inspiration through their own places of personal meaning. This work will also support our capacity to stay curious, access wonder and to stay hopeful and inspired in turbulent times.
Key Jungian concepts we will explore include:
- The intersection of neurobiology and the creative process
- The relationship between anxiety and creativity
- Creating a container for the process of active imagination to explore unconscious material via the soma
-Numinosity and faith on a neurobiological level
-Understanding how to create a container for active imagination via movement
-Exploring the transcendent function through a somatic container
- Interoception via symbolism
Pre-course reading will be provided. Small exploration/research groups will be organized for those wanting to interact with other participants through the training.
Monthly payment plans are available that are structured to have full payment completed prior to the start of the training.
Refund policy: Should you wish to cancel your enrollment in a training, you will receive a refund as follows:
